2003 was the beginning of a prolific time for Spears in the recording studio, but In the Zone didn’t yield many bonus tracks. “The Answer” is the best of the bunch, with its low-key vibe and plucky production, her layered Breathy vocals match the laid-back feel. Spears wrote the song with P. Diddy and Ryan Leslie, so it might be a bit of a surprise that such high-profile collaborators got the bonus track treatment, especially when the song is good enough for the standard edition. The cherry on top of this track is Spears’s ad-libs on the outro. Definitely a hidden gem.
