It wasn’t until 2020 with the release of Lady Gaga’s Chromatica that 90s house music made its official return to pop radio, but the genre did have a brief moment of glory in the kickoff to the Femme Fatale bonus tracks. Having dabbled with the genre during her early …Baby One More Time recording sessions, Spears sounds at home on “Up N’ Down.” It’s fun and fierce and was one of two album bonus tracks to get regular performances during The Femme Fatale Tour. It was on this album that Britney started her tradition of hiding some of her album’s best tracks in the bonus section, though this is not the most egregious example on Femme Fatale (see “He About to Lose Me”).
