“Clumsy” is a 3-minute romp with some of the most adventurous vocals Spears has laid for a dance track. The electro pop groove is full of synth claps and soulful riffs, and even an allusion to one of her early hits with the repeated quip: “Oops!” In terms of lyrical content, it seems like clumsiness shouldn’t necessarily be synonymous with sexual prowess, but Britney begs to differ! She sounds like she was having a great time during the recording, offering some mid belts and vocal runs and shifting to sweet falsettos. Being one of the more quirky and infectious tracks on Glory, it’s no wonder it gained more traction than some of the other non-singles, even being selected by Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone as the 34th best song of 2016.
