70. Amnesia (2008)

(Garibay, Livingston)

Album: Circus (Deluxe/International Editions)

It’s happened to the best of us, right? A cute boy comes in the vicinity and you promptly forget your address. Okay, so “Amnesia” may be more than a touch hyperbolic, but it also has hooks for days. Its rhyme scheme is a bit all over the place, but this poor girl totally forgot that she has a fiancé, so let’s cut her some slack. The song structure gives the song a retro feel while the vibrant production keeps it squarely in 2008. I almost wonder if Lana Del Rey wasn’t listening to this when she recorded some of her best unreleased tracks like “Driving in Cars with Boys” and “Queen of Disaster.” It may not surpass her better singles, but I think many would have preferred this fan favorite at least not be relegated to limited release in select markets.
