(McGroarty, Huntington, Morier)
Album: Blackout
Blackout wasn’t exactly an album looking for a ballad, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t use a beautiful love song. Enter “Heaven on Earth,” a Euro disco track with some hints of early 80s new wave influences. An electronic clap machine kicks off the busy but beautiful song, and Spears lays down several strong vocal tracks for what is probably her best vocal showcase on the album. Check out those ad-libs at the end of the song! Songwriter Nicole Morier said that she really found her niche when writing this song and it transformed her career. Spears made a habit of working with some lesser-known writers and producers alongside some of the industries well-known heavyweights, and this is an example of her work being a gateway to some great careers. Britney herself flagged this as one of her favorites off the album, and we can absolutely see why.
