Avicii was clearly looming large over pop music in 2013, and “Now That I Found You” is a clear effort to capitalize on the folktronica trend that the Swedish DJ had popularized. Spears’s vocals are clear and sweet during the verses then get swept away in a tidal wave of production (and banjo!) during the chorus. It’s certainly not the worst thing on Britney Jean, but feels a bit messy (and a bit too reminiscent of “Cotton-Eye Joe”) to be a classic Britney track.
