Album: Britney
In the early 2000s, it wasn’t necessarily unheard of for bells to play a dominant role in non-holiday pop song (see “Around the World (La La La La La)” by ATC). Britney’s penultimate track (on the US standard edition) puts those bells to work in a song she co-wrote once again with Josh Schwartz and Brian Kierulf. It’s a sweet love song with an extremely busy production that both dates and overwhelms the track. I think a stripped down remix or live performance of “That’s Where You Take Me” could make me a believer, but as is, it’s one of the albums few missteps.
