(Elofsson, Hill)
Album: Britney (Deluxe/International Editions)
A personal pet peeve is when an early lyrical misstep distracts the listener from ever becoming immersed in what otherwise is a solid pop ballad. “I believe we all have one true love somewhere in this world... I do!” just sounds too forced that I cringe every time. “When I Found You” is written by frequent Spears collaborators Jörgen Elofsson and Dan Hill, and while it is not a lyrical masterpiece, it does have a strong bridge and an adept vocal performance by Spears. There is a repeated sound effect that I believe derives from a voice modulation of Spears’s vocals but ends up sounding like a kazoo. With a few tweaks, this song certainly would have had potential to rank higher on the list, but makes a solid bonus offering nonetheless.
