(Omelio, Høiberg, Michaels) Album: Glory
Spears is at her best when she’s setting trends, not hopping on them. Her voice sounds lovely on “Just Luv Me,” a Cashmere Cat-produced midtempo track, but the tropical house beats that had swamped the radio in 2015 and early 2016 were played out at this point. Unfortunately, the end result sounds like a competent but underwhelming Fifth Harmony B-side track. On an album that showed a more daring side of Spears, this is one of only a few moments from Glory where the listener may have felt pandered to. She dabbled in the same genre for “Better,” but somehow that track seems a bit more remarkable.
